Dividend Achievers List

Dividend Achievers List

Most investors are familiar with the popular Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and the S&P 500 index. But did you know that there’s another index that tracks stocks of companies that have increased their dividends for 10 or more consecutive years? It’s called the Dividend Achievers List, and it’s composed of some of the most stable and consistent dividend-paying stocks on the market. In this blog post, we’ll explain why the Dividend Achievers List is important and how you can use it to find high-quality dividend stocks.

What is the Dividend Achievers List?

The Dividend Achievers List is a list of companies that have increased their dividend payments for 10 or more consecutive years. The list is compiled and maintained by Mergent, Inc., a financial data and analytics provider. As of November 2022, there are 380 stocks on the Dividend Achievers List.

Why is the Dividend Achievers List important?

The Dividend Achievers List is important because it provides investors with a starting point for finding high-quality dividend stocks. Companies that have been able to increase their dividend payments for 10+ years tend to be financially strong and have sustainable business models. These are exactly the types of companies that you want to own for the long term.

How can I use the Dividend Achievers List?

You can use the Dividend Achievers List in two ways: 1) as a watchlist for identifying potential investments, or 2) as an investment strategy in itself. If you’re looking for individual stocks to add to your portfolio, you can use the Dividend Achievers List as a watchlist. Simply add all of the stocks on the list to your stock tracking software (e.g., Google Finance, Yahoo! Finance, etc.), and then perform your due diligence on each one before making any investment decisions.

Alternatively, if you want to invest in a basket of high-quality dividend stocks all at once, you can do so by investing in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the Dividend Achievers Index. The only ETF that does this currently is the ProShares S&P 500®/Dow Jones® International Real Estate ETF (BATS: RWX). This ETF invests in international real estate companies that are included in either the S&P 500 Index or the Dow Jones World ex-U.S Total Stock Market Index, and also have increased their dividends for at least 10 consecutive years.

The Dividend Achievers List is an important tool for investors who are looking for high-quality dividend stocks. The list is composed of companies that have increased their dividend payments for 10 or more consecutive years, meaning they are financially strong and have sustainable business models. You can use the Dividend Achievers List as a watchlist for identifying potential investments, or you can invest in an ETF that tracks the list.
